I'm pretty sure that a number of the WAD editing utilities provided the
ability to extract graphics from WAD files. I remember doing it using one of the tools in the xwadtools collection - it might've been DeuTex, but my memory might be faulty. All the xwadtools stuff is source code, so you'll have to compile it yourself. I don't know what platform you're using, but I don't remember having any problems with compiling it on Linux. If your setup is lacking a C compiler and you can't be bothered with installing one, then I think there are pre-compiled versions of DeuTex and WinTex (the Windows port of DeuTex) floating around on download sites.
