Default STA to HP ratio not making sense :/

I feel like a bit of a n00b right now. For all melee classes, isn't the
ratio 1 STA = 6 hp? And so going up 15 in STA (from 174 to 199) should
give me 90 hp, yes? (15 x 6 = 90 last I checked)

Yet my hp most assuredly only go up 72 when I add a bracelet of fortitude
with 15 STA. So I'm thinking that the cap at which the ratio decreases is
something lower than 200, or the ratio is not actually an even 1:6.

Anyone know why I'm not getting the normal ratio? I clicked off all buffs
to make sure my STA wasn't buffed...as I said, this is going from 174 to
199.

Did you replace an item in that slot that had some STA on it? If you
replaced an item with +3 STA, then you only netted a +12 STA, which would be
72 hp.

I have done this so many times, thinking I am gaining +15 and forgetting
that I am also LOSING +5 so I am only netting +10 of some stat.

Also, 199-174 is 25, not 15.

I don't know the ratios or formulas, but this was one possibility that I
have done myself.

You're using the warrior conversion rate, not the normal melee one.
Warriors get a class based bonus on hit points from stamina.

For a warrior, 1stamina = 6hp at level 60. (6.5 at 65? I don't know
exactly, as I had natural durability by then.)

Casters and priests, I believe it's more like 3 hp at 60, and 3.3? at 65.

I'm not sure what the exact rate is for rangers, but (4.5 hit points at 60?)
4.8 hit points at 65 per stamina, which you're now reporting, sounds like
it's in the right ballpark.

If you have any of the Natural Durability AA's, that'll change the
calculation as well, by adding 2, 5 or 10 percent.

That must be what it is...though I could have sworn I'd seen STA upgrades
give me 6hp/1 STA before. Eh, no use crying about it I suppose, because
it does make sense that warriors have more than hybrids. Poo.

And to the other person who replied, I tested the STA increase without
*any* bracer and with this 15 sta bracer, so that I could rule out the
possibility you suggested.

YOu might want to check Steel Warriors, I think there is a thread there
about where the various HP/STA breaks are.

Alas no.

*deep breath*

Maurice @ Magelo has the most complete info I've seen including the
fact that each point of STA over 255 gives only half the HPs that each
point of STA does below 255.

o-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------o

HP = TRUNC[ 5 x ND ] + TRUNC [ Lvl x LM x ND ]
+ TRUNC [ TRUNC [ ( STA - TRUNC [(STA-255)/2] )
x Lvl x LM / 300 ] x ND ]

Where the ND is the multiplier bonus they use (Natural Durability,
Physical Enhancement, etc ...) and where the term TRUNC [(STA-255)/2]
is always 0 or greater (i.e. when STA is below 255, it is considered
equal to 0). LM is a class and level dependent multiplier as indicated
below.

o-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------o

What is known so far:

Monk, Rogue, Beastlord and Bard:

Level 1-50: Levelmultiplier = 18
Level 51-57: Levelmultiplier = 19
Level 58-65: Levelmultiplier = 20

Cleric, Druid, Shaman:

Level 1-65: Levelmultiplier = 15

Magician, Necromancer, Enchanter and Wizard:

Level 1-65: Levelmultiplier = 12

Ranger:

Level 1-57: Levelmultiplier = 20
Level 58-65: Levelmultiplier = 21

Shadowknight and Paladin:

Level 1-34: Levelmultiplier = 21
Level 35-44: Levelmultiplier = 22
Level 45-50: Levelmultiplier = 23
Level 51-55: Levelmultiplier = 24
Level 56-59: Levelmultiplier = 25
Level 60-65: Levelmultiplier = 26

Warrior:

Level 1-19: Levelmultiplier = 22
Level 20-29: Levelmultiplier = 23
Level 30-39: Levelmultiplier = 25
Level 40-52: Levelmultiplier = 27
Level 53-56: Levelmultiplier = 28
Level 57-59: Levelmultiplier = 29
Level 60-65: Levelmultiplier = 30

o-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------o

As you can see Warriors do best followed by the Knights with Rangers
in fourth place. Int casters pretty much get the shaft.

should be then written as:

HP = TRUNC[ 5 x ND ] + TRUNC [ Lvl x LM x ND ]
+ TRUNC [ TRUNC [ ( STA - (TRUNC [MAX(STA-255,0)/2] )
x Lvl x LM / 300 ] x ND ]

It saves you having to drag around the caveat about the TRUNC term.

cheers,
