Default Strange colours for warders & wolves

Has anyone else got strange graphics for Warders, Wolves and a few
other creatures in recent weeks?

My Wife & I logged onto the Test Server for the first time a few weeks
ago and when we logged back onto Innoruuk her Beastlord's Warder (Wolf)
and all the wolves in every zone have strange colours - usually orange
and brown striped bodies, white feet, blue heads, no texture for fur,
etc. although it does vary a bit.

In addition when my Enchanter uses the Scaled Wolf illusion he is
multicoloured and extremely weird to look at.

This is true for both our machines - hers is an Athlon 2700+ with a
GForce 4 card & mine is a Duron 700 with a GForce 3 - both running
DirectX 9.

We have tried a full file check and that has not made any difference.
A couple of patches have happened since and still nothing has made any
difference.

While this is no big deal and does not affect our play in any way it
would be nice to be able to restore things to the way they should be.

Any ideas folks?

Sounds like corrupt texture cache files. Run a search for everything
ending in .txc. EQ texture cache files are all that should come up.
Delete them all. (If by some off chance something comes up that's not
in your Everquest directory, leave it alone) When you log back into
EQ, the txc files will be re-made as needed. This usually fixes this
sort of problem when it comes up.

Try deleting all your .txc files. Should fix the problem

I had the exact same problem after logging into the test server myself about
a month back. All animals were screwy, and my Iksar scaled wolf warder
looked very odd. While this was actually helpful in finding Drakkel Dire
Wolves in the snow, since they'd be striped a few shades of brown, I got
pretty sick of it. Follow the advice above... get rid of the .txc files.
Worked fine for me.

Email them to me first! Sounds like great fun, I've been looking at that
boring kitty for 61 levels now.

People have reported having problems from just deleting the .txc files.
Better solution is to turn off texture caching, log in, camp to desktop.
Turn on texture caching, log back in, and play. That should cause EQ to
redo the texture files as it needs them. That being said, when I had the
problem, I just deleted the .txc files, and had no problems as a result. --

I tried deleting all the .txc file last night and it worked great!

Everything looks fine again now. Thanks for all your advice folks.

I zipped up the old versions with a view to uploading them to my free web
space in case anyone really did want to try them out. Unfortunately the zip
file came out at more than 500MB so I abandoned that idea!
