Is that what you were referring to was not being able to save in battle? If
so, press 'B' once it's your turn, then 'Start'. At the bottom of the menu
it should save 'Save' or 'Save Now', something like that. When you next
start your game, you pick up the battle where you left off, and your the
game makes some note/comment about how it erases your prior save data. I
think that part just refers to whatever was from your last map-screen save
to the battle-save.
