Default PC and PS2 FFXI

: Well,
:
: After playing with the PC version at work for almost a week I fell in love
: with it. Then, decided to buy a new PS2 and the HDD so I can continue to
: play and level up at home. Here are some personal thoughts:
<snip>
:
: Conclusion, if I had known the PS2 had such shortcoming graphic wise, I
: would of passed on it and just get another PC. But again, that's just my
: personal experience. It is playable (barely), but its not as enjoyable as
: the PC version. As far as keyboard and mouse, I connect a wireless setup and
: was able to have all the functions as no limit my distance. This is nice to
: have. So, for doing quest, I'll be using the PS2 and for battles, I will
: definitely go with the PC. Lets just put it this way, I think I spoiled
: myself with the PC version before the HDD came out. PC=highest possible
: resolution, HHD/PS2=lowest PC default resolution.

i just purchased the FFXI on the HDD. I intend to use the PS2 component video into a 21"
LCD component TV.
are you saying THAT is bad graphics because the PS2 is limited to 480i HDTV resolutions ?

I have FF X-2 component video into LCD - looks pretty great.

Guess i'd like to know what your baseline IS for your opinion. define your terms please.

Doesn't matter how high quality a TV you are viewing it on. You can't look
at a 32x32 JPEG on a 19" monitor that cost $1,000,000 and is the best in
the world and get a good image on it.

Compare it to what FFXI looks like on your PS2 to what it looks like on a
middle of the pack gaming PC with a half decent 17" or 19" CRT. Notice how
amazing it looks in comparison.

Old Dr Richard Cranium, look at my life, I'm a lot like you were:

WTF is the big deal about LCD televisions? The image quality has always
looked like shit on any of the ones I've seen -- Sony, Sharp, Philips,
whatever. Methinks they have scaling problems -- like how crap 800x600
looks on a TFT screen designed to be run at 1024x768. I'll stick with my
trusty old Wega CRT, cheers ta.

hello jonathon,

really that wasn't a question.

component out of the PS2 into a 36" to 50" component TV looks great also. Seems like
someone has to spend more $$ than the entire PS2 costs to get close to quality video ?
reckon the x-box is the same way.

scaling ? sounds like a personal prob. Wega is another great method to display video -
you multi-av ? or just rf ?
