One of the subtle things in FFVII is Sephiroth's bell: most prominent
in his main theme ("Those Chosen by the Planet"), it makes subtle
appearances all throughout the soundtrack, in appropriate places. I
never took any heed to it, until I came to the realization that it is
not just another instrument in the orchestra. I strongly believe it
was purposefully singled out and used almost as a symbol of Sephiroth.
Note that the rather slow, repetitive track "Those Chosen by the
Planet" is actually included in the much more upbeat "The Birth of
God" (played in the 2nd to last fight) if you listen closely, but sped
up accordingly. They even manage to fit it into "One Winged Angel",
where it is totally out of place with the other instruments. Here, it
is quite subtle, only playing twice per cycle. I'll leave it to those
readers who are among the more avid FFVII fans to listen for
themselves to determine precisely where all Sephiroth's bell is used.
