### INFO WANTED ### How do you killfile/plonk/filter in Netscape?

This newsgroup is plagued by endless repetitions of the same endless
questions which are repeated endlessly like a plague. This irritates
the regulars because the same questions are repeated endlessly. People
contribute to the newsgroup because they enjoy the game and it's a bit
of an ego trip, however it's hard to tolerate the 10000th time someone
asks how to fly the Dodo or whether GTA VC will be released on PC.

One very important thing you can teach yourself is how to perform a
"Google Search" to find answers to your questions:

1) http://www.google.com

2) Click into the groups area, then track your way down to

alt.games.grand-theft-auto.

Bookmark this location, because you'll keep coming back to it to
search for more answers about GTA without annoying everyone else.

3) Put a few keywords into the search box. You may put in more than
one word. A useful trick is to be able to exclude messages containing
a certain word - here's how that might be done:

PC graphics -Eep

which will exclude any messages containing the word "Eep". As usual,
you can put in phrases like "bomb the base" so that the words are not
broken up but treated as a complete sentence.


Q: How do I post questions to the newsgroup?
A: ALWAYS put VC or GTA3 in the subject or message so we know what
version you are asking about! Some questions are too ambiguous.

Q: Can I post pictures or binaries to the newsgroup?
A: Please don't. alt.games.grand-theft-auto is a text-only newsgroup.
Even HTML is unwelcome. Post only in plain text.
The best way to post a picture is to put it on a website and post
a link. Binaries? If they are illegal copies of a GTA game, please
don't encourage theft. IF it's legit, put it on a website or find
the .binaries. newsgroup for GTA.

Q: Can I start or participate in a flamewar or rant and rave angrily
about off-topic OR on-topic subjects?
A: FARK NO!!! Learn to control yourself. If you find yourself getting
angry, kill-file the other participant, put the keyboard down,
pick up your controller and take out your anger on some innocent
pedestrians or gang members in any of the GTA games.

Remember this fundamental principle about UseNet:

Q: Where can I get free/warez/cracked/etc versions of GTA III or VC?
A: GO TO HELL. People who ask this question always get shot down in
flames. Nobody in this group will treat you with any respect when
you ask this question. We've all paid for it, and you should too.
Rockstar deserve payment for bringing out this brilliant game.
Save some money for a week instead of buying cigarettes or drugs.

Q: Who is this Eep freak, anyway?
A: He's a bad-tempered little boy, who unfortunately fusses and feuds
about trivia, and typically uses kindergarten insults and attacks
against anyone who disagrees with him, no matter how logical or
thoughtful or legitimate their opposing ideas are.

If you dislike any of his posts, then you're not Robinson Caruso.
Try posting a complaint to the Abuse Account at his ISP. The mail
address can be found in the headers of his message. Look for
"Properties" or "Options" in your newsreader.

Q: Eep is back at ag.gta. What gives?
A: God help us all.
