Default What a riot

Huh. "Riot mode" (near the end of the storyline) is zoned: Some areas of LS
are "riot zones", some are not, and CJ has to be IN a riot zone for "riot
mode" to be active.

When you find a border, all you have to do is step into the "riot zone" to
activate it and step back out to deactivate it. Step in, the spawning peds
go nuts; step out, they go back to normal.

Just drive around and pay attention to the peds. If they're rioting, drive
on until you reach an area where they aren't. Then get out and walk back
and forth between the two zones until you find the border. It's easiest at
night. When you enter a riot zone, the streetlights instantly start
flashing. Another instant cue is traffic signal status: they flash yellow
during riot mode, and cycle red-yellow-green normally.

If you want an easy one, there's a border near the bridge just north of the
lighthouse, on the LS side. Just walk back and forth (east/west) on the
street until you find it.

No big find, but I'm always interested in how the game works.

I like details like that too. Do you know if it is the same if you use the
riot cheat?

Pretty sure not. The riot near the end of the story is a Los Santos thing.
I think the riot cheat applies everywhere.

But it's possible that it's the same bubble that triggers these
"your hood is under attack" messages?

I've never seen them come up while being in Las Venturas or San
Fierro.

You mean, are the "riot zones" the same areas where you have to be to get
the "hood under attack" messages? I don't think so. (I think I've had
"hood under attack" happen when I'm in LV, even though the area under attack
is clear down in LS.) I don't think the riot stuff is related.

Does anyone actually pay attention to those? I just save the game and the
aggressive buggers seem to disappear.

Only that area just south of the Johnson House so that I can 'jack a car
in relative quiet and so that going to visit Denise doesn't mean dodging
fire 'til actually on the date.

In message <7e5Zf.122$LH2.121@newsfe2-win.ntli.net>

Easier than that - Nick any vehicle with special missions (Taxi,
Police, Fire Truck, Broadway, etc), activate, and then de-activate the
mission.

Saves time as the Taxi is the most common vehicle on the roads.

Cheers,
Rob

No, I didn't mean the territories overall, I meant the ones under attack. It
seems to me that when you're building up your territories to 100%, it's a
waste of time defending those being attacked. Just save the game - it's
tedious enough fighting gangs anyway. Saving the games "resets" the hood
under attack.
