Hey all,

Well, I'm still playing OF, but I'm not enjoying it as much as HL. Seems
you have to take much more abuse in this game and I don't like it. I've
managed to save my Engineer during the beginning of Friendly Fire where you
have to find the transit car. However having four guys with me doesn't seem
to help much since they're so freakin' DUMB. The moment the firing starts
they just leap into the fray and all end up dead because the Special Ops
guys are so ****ing hard to kill. Should I not even bother trying to
protect them? If so, then what's the point of having them along at all?

Is there any kind of strategy I can employ? The walkthrough at
planethalflife doesn't say squat.

Well, they are what they are, so you can't expect them to survive
forever. I can usually get them about as far as the third wave of
black ops, out in the track tunnels. Up to that point, they make good
cannon fodder and kill a few enemies here and there, and that's about
all you can expect. The better you are at killing black ops yourself,
the longer they'll survive.

Yep. And it's not far past that third wave, where they can't follow you any
farther anyway. The primary purpose of that squad accompanying you, is
for the heavy-weapons guy to bite the dust so that you can aquire his nifty
M60 for yourself, after they all buy the farm :-) Other than that, any assist-
ance they manage to provide is just gravy.

For 5 years ago, that was a helluva game! I really liked it almost as
much as HL itself

Yeah, squatting won't help you much. The AI is a little sharper than that.
