Goto control panel --> sounds then under where it says "Device volume" click
advanced. Then click the mute box under the microphone (if u cannot see a
microphone slider then click options --> properties and turn it on)
And yes u may say that'll stop the microphone working but it doesn't!

How can I get my microphone to work..while I'm on the Internet playing? I
can hear through the headset, and I can hear myself talk in the microphone,
but other players cannot????
is there a setting I'm missing?

Try turning Steam Microphone volume to full.
other wise it zeroes it all time.
I was in Steam beta test and this was one problem in there and it is
still.(in some machines.)
