Then you post it in a binary newsgroup and leave a message here
stating where it is.

Why is posting a small binary/gif such a big deal? Please educate me. I
cant seem to find a mame cabinet building binary group. If there is one,
please let me know where it is. I will be sure to put my posts there.
What do you do about the the ot make money fast posts? Should I be asking
these questions in a different news group and putting a link in here
pointing to the post? If I did do that, would you take the time to go to
that group to read and respond to it? Then... where would you put the
response... would that be in a different group with a link pointing to that
group? This is getting very confusing.

Thanks in advance.

If that was really a request for education, I will share, but if your
looking to argue, I am not interested.

posting binaries to NON binary groups is bad because the group is
carried on servers all over the world, some have binaries available,
others are text only. Many of the text only ones are FREE. When binaries
start to show up in non binary groups it is very _probable_ that the
group will be removed (sometimes an automated, scripted process based on
content) This effects possibly hundreds of thousands if not millions of
people that use these free servers to access there news. Bandwidth and
binaries cost money and providing a free service can be quite costly.

does that explain it?

There aren't any binary groups for it specifically, but there are MAME
binary groups for the posting of MAME related binaries.

The gauntlet has been thrown, alt.binaries.emulators.mame

report them as spam to the ISP, what do you do?

How about asking the question in here and putting a link to the post or
posting the message ID from a usenet post.

Why do that when you can pose the question here and get your answer
here. Just don't post the pictures in here.

Only because your making it so.

Here are the basic options.

Obtain some webspace, free if possible. Use this to post your pictures
and use tinyurl or post the full link to the picture at said site.

post the binary in a binary group. Check to make sure it is complete
while obtaining the message ID and post that in here.

Ask someone in here to provide some webspace for that purpose, if you
ask nicely, you might find some takers.

you're welcome

In the land of alt.games.mame, the word of the Lord came to name and
verily he spoke saying:

Well for one many newsservers, including mine, automatically block
any post with an attachment to any newsgroup that doesn't have
"binary" in the title. So in that case he doesn't get any help so you
may as well not post it. I never saw your original post only Prot's
reply. Anyway I don't think Prot's reply to you was anywhere near as
rude as your reply above is. But thats just the way it is man. Like
don't go in through the outdoor or don't drive on the wrong side of
the street. It's the excepted norm. You don't "have to" follow it,
but if you don't dont get mad at the guy that slams in to you head
on.

While strolling through alt.games.mame, Christ's Soldiers was overheard
plotting:

I was just thinking about you today, glad things are OK.

If the word "binaries" is not part of the name of the newsgroup, then no
binaries are allowed. Period.

Look at it this way. Binary postings are NOT ALLOWED by default.

Default OT: casual chit chat

In the land of alt.games.mame, the word of the Lord came to SINNER
and verily he spoke saying:

Oh things are pretty good, thanks. I just been doin a lot of outside
stuff with the kids and I am pretty sick right now. Thats always a
bummer. I may have some kind of infection (ear throat etc) so I will
probably have to see a doctor as it has been a little over a week with
no recovery. Anyway I've been readin a bit here and there just not
posting much. Usually I read at work but we've been pretty busy which
is good because business has been pretty bad for a while (aviation
related job). So all in all no real complaints.
