Until I get a 2 monitor setup working, every pixel on my monitor is valuable
real estate. I've been thinking it would be nice to eliminate the top and
left borders on the gps500. I can find the graphic and modify it. There is a
utility in winXP called makecab which I'm thinking will rebuild the cab file
that contains this bmp. What kind of trouble am I asking for here? Is it
do-able? Anything I need to know before I mess up (a copy of) my gps cab
file? Is there an offset for placing the map in the gps somewhere? Am I even
on the right track?

I finally got around to trying the sailplane in 2004. The learning center
claims there are sailplane flights in the select a flight menu. Can someone
tell me where? I don't see any.

AFAIK there ain't no pre-made sailplane flights in FS2004. But it ain't
difficult to create one or two, just use the map to place your sailplane,
select an appropriate altitude, save, enjoy.

AFAIK, FS2004 still doesn't have any natural lift, either thermal,
Wave, or cliff side. I've been adding thermals with Thermik, and
doing some cross country.

Glathrem - have been thinking the same as well, the new GPS takes up a hell
of a lot of space and would be nice to crop it around the perimeter - or
even better can somebody think of a way to repackage it in a Honeywell style
case (ala Lear45) with slim rims and buttons only at the bottom?

Would be easy enough to modify the gps_500_background.bmp, but what about
the gps_500.xml? Don't know anything about xml, but saw quite a few
'position' statements that seem to refer to the coordinates in the bmp,
guess you would have to adjust all those ...

Anyway would love to see a cropped (repackaged?) GPS as well, so are there
any hotshot xml guys (or girls) who can enlighten us there?
