The Official GGD Guitar Hero II Leaderbo ...

So it's out. I went to Fry's today, went straight to where the big
crowd was and picked it up. My long nightmare of waiting to play
Guitar Hero II comes to an end today (well, tonight since I'm at work
now). On the way home, I got to thinking about how awesome it is that
Guitar Hero now has an online leaderboard (too bad no true online -
bah!) and how that might tie into our little group here in General
Games. I know of at least a half dozen people that are buying the game
today, and based on the crowd I saw at Fry's, there are going to be
plenty more than that. I saw Vader's thread on Metal Gear Online, and
I thought it would be a good idea to have a few community-based
threads around certain games.

A few interesting tidbits about the game that I didn't know:

You can play co-op with one person using the guitar and the other
using a controller. Not sure how I feel about this yet. It could be
too easy. Or lame. Or both. Still, at least you can get some of the co-
op achievements without having to dish out for another guitar.

The expansion jack on the bottom of the guitar is for an effects
pedal. Yay!

The guitar has a cord (boo! lame! hiss!), but has the same breakaway
cord you'll remember from the original Xbox controller. Kinda makes
you wonder if the game wasn't in production for the Xbox first,
y'know?

Achievements! Sweet holy gracious achievements designed to drive the
ordinary man mad. I'm ashamed to admit this, but even if I had this
already for the PS2, I'd re-buy it for the downloadable content and
the achievements.

So here's the deal:

Add your Xbox Live tag if you want to have your scores (which will be
verified!) listed in the General Games leaderboard, and then get to
shredding fools! Scores will be updated nightly or as often as need
be.

Gynoug

Thunderforce

Rocket Knight Adventures(though OI do have it on my working Gen/MD!)

The Panzer Dragoon Saga from Saturn would RULE!

Sylpheed.

I'd love to see a VC version of NiGHTS and Christmas NiGHTS.

Burning Rangers.

The COMPLETE version of Shining Force 3 on Saturn(only one chapter was
released in the U.K.?)

Chrono Trigger was never released in the U.K as far as I'm aware.

Also, Illusion of Time from the SNES, that game was ACE and as far as
I can remember, highly under appreciated back in the

mid 90's.

Flashback, One of the best and most cinematic games to appear on the
Genesis/Megadrive. A spiritual precursor to the

platform/adventure games we take for granted today, where story,
action, puzzles and adventure all enhance the gaming

experience, Tomb Raider, Resi and the like.

Games like Guardian Heroes, Gunstar Heroes, Parodius, Shadowrun,
Probotector(Contra Spirits: Alien Rebels), Spider-man vs.

Kingpin, Smash T.V, Toki, Dragon Force, Sillhouette Mirage, Gun
Griffon, Sega Rally and more but I can't think of more at

the moment

Oh... P.S. somewhere on that future list there better be room for the
Streets of Rage games!

And I'll tell you right now: None of you are going to take me down in
"Message In A Bottle." None of you.
