Default FS2K2 Question about saving flights

Hi Dudley,

Just had a thought while having a scrub in the bath.

I have started using one of the Project Fokker aircraft.
Now if you load FS2002 and load this aircraft first, either from create a
flight or a saved flight it always starts cold and dark.
it is meant to do this.

Now if the sim has been in use *at all* with other flights and I go back to
either "Create a flight" or a saved flight using the Fokker it either has
the APU or engines running when loaded.

What I am saying is that the *only* time this a/c loads, as designed, is
immediately after loading FS2002, fresh.

Perhaps your FD problem is a bit obscure like this in that it may only
work/load correctly if it is done directly after starting FS2002.

Hope some of this makes sense.

Martin

| Sorry for the long post, but I want to get this straight finally if I can
| :-))))
|
| I thought I had this nailed, but I must be missing something. Do me a
favor
| will you, and read what I'm saying here carefully and try and straighten
me
| out on what I'm doing wrong saving my flights...because I'm definitely not
| doing something the way it should be!! :-))
| For example, I've been having trouble with the flight director in the Mig
21
| not capturing the ILS correctly. I tried everything in my kit bag of
tricks
| to fix it but no dice. Then I decided that it must be something affecting
| the flight director in the Mig held over from something saved before it. I
| do know that a friend of mine sent me a P51 with an avionics switch
| installed on it that had been shut down and saved with that switch off. I
| have no idea if this would be a conflict with the Mig, but I deleted all
the
| saved flights I had and reloaded the Mig. Everything worked perfectly!!!
| When I posted about saving flights before, someone suggested not making
any
| flight a default flight...just save each one after shutting everything
down,
| refueling, setting the required weather...then just hitting save but not
| default. This is what I've been doing.I fly all my aircraft from the same
| starting place..airport and ramp location, so I've just been saving a
flight
| for each aircraft I want to fly on it's INITIAL flight from my chosen
point
| of departure after setting up the weather and the aircraft the way I want
it
| to open when I select it again. I've configured the sim so that it opens
on
| the opening screen, then I just select the saved flight I want and open
it.
| Somewhere along the line, I'm screwing up the flight director on the Mig
by
| saving some aircraft with a switch shutdown that messes up the Mig's FD.
| From what I'm saying here, is there an OPTIMUM method to save flights for
an
| aircraft with everything cold and dark that WON'T conflict in any way with
| the next aircraft in line that you save cold and dark?
| There's GOT to be a way to do this without conflicting between aircraft!!
| Remember......I haven't saved anything as a default flight.....not the
| initial at Megis....nothing as default. I simply shut down Megis cold and
| dark, then I selected from there my first aircraft at my preferred
location,
| then set up settings for that aircraft and saved it. I think this might be
| the problem. Should I have a default flight saved?
| Thanks much;
| Dudley

Default FS2K2 Question about saving flights

Martin,

Was it you that provided the previous advice about deleting the cfg file, or
am I getting mixed up in my old age. Maybe you just don't want to share the
blame if Dudley deletes it LOL.

Regards

Geoff

I did mention something about deleting the .cfg file a while ago but the
only problem with that is you lose any personalised key/button/Jstick
assignments.
If this will be a problem, it is better to re-load default Meigs (for '02)
from "Select a Flight" and make it default, load up, then close the sim and
re-start. This will reset all default aircraft settings without losing
assignments.

If the .cfg file is deleted, all that will happen is that it will be
re-built and take you back to the "default" when first installed

If you get the cfg file the way you want it and all works well, make a
back-up then if problems arise you can always copy and paste over a corrupt
cfg file.

I am wary about making drastic changes to the way fs2002 loads......i.e.
changing the default flight, but do have many personalised key assignments.

Best,
Martin
