No, but I uninstalled, reinstalled and played unpatched with the same
problems. Funny thing is, it ran perfectly until yesterday - patch and all.
Maybe it's trash in Win2k's registry database?

Anyway, Now I've uninstalled the game and put it on the shelf. :~(

That's not just missing textures, is it? Those are 3D-modelled exclamation
marks. Why would they be there?

GB: Have you entered some kind of developer mode in the console or in your
shortcut to launch the game?

While you're at it, now might be a good time to run a spyware remover
or two, and perhaps your favorite virus scanner (off a bootable CD).

Installing the latest stable driver for your graphics card (or re-installing,
if you already have the latest) and re-installing the version of DirectX
that came with Oblivion are long shots, but might be worth a shot.

If you're overclocking anything, stop. Go into your BIOS and set the
conservative defaults, at least temporarily to see if the problem goes
away.

Nope, but the problem is probably my spanking new Geforce 6600GT/256. My
stationary PC died on me yesterday, so I'm gonna go and run roughshod over
the salesman in "Computer City". :-(

Not everything is utter tragedy, though: I still have my laptop and PDA,
and just got a 6Mbit flatrate broadband connection. DL/UL around 1MB/sec at
its best, so far. :-)

Well, maybe it's time to redo some old stuff - Brittannia, here I come! :-)

I use AdAware, and a few days ago I ran SuperSpywareRemover. My antivir
is autoupdating (anyway I haven't had a virus since 1992...).

Been there, done that. See my reply to Mr. Catley just below... :-(


I've never been overclocking, and the BIOS was fine.
