Default Wilderness 2.0 is cancelled

I don't think Puma Man will be back. It seems that Aerolorn has
completely defeated him. We'll have to move on. Aerolorn owns him now.

Geez, I never let anyone in my life defeat me like that. This shows us
more about Puma Man's lack of character.

This isn't about Wilderness 2 or Giants.xx anymore. This is about
abandoning what you love doing just because someone screwed you. With
an attitude like that, how can you survive in the business world?
Would you quit your job everytime somebody step on you? You think
guilt-trip is some sort of weapon? Think again. When you quit after
they stepped all over you, they get the satisfaction of totally and
completely defeating you. They OWN you in a sense. Thus, Aerolorn owns
Puma Man.

I'm pretty much disgusted. Buy some self-respect Puma Man.

(this is a reply I made to his forum. Puma Man is now quitting making
mods because someone copied some stuff from his mod and didn't give
him credit for it.)

The irony. Considering that Puma copied stuff from other games. Copyrighted
stuff. I can only say, Puma, good riddance !

While I agree that Aerolorn is probably gloating, what exactly has he
won? Who is he going to copy off of now?

I don't speak for Puma Man (alt.fisting being a few doors down) but I
can see where it just isn't worth the effort, not when people come at
you from all sides while you're doing something without pay.

Much like a business, the experience must be profitable. He may move
on to making mod files for a different game, or take up sailing, golf,
or whatever. People have to live there lives, and part of living is
the feeling that there is a point to your efforts.

Worrying about getting sued would have put most people off. The fact
that he stuck with it, putting himself in financial jeopardy is
impressive in a way.

YMMV

He likes doing what he's doing. He should keep doing what he wants
not let someone stop him from doing what he likes. Let's say he took
up sailing. Some sailor screwed him so Puma Man burns his boat and
quit sailing. Let's say he took up golf and some golf caddy screwed
him. Puma Man breaks apart his golf clubs and quit again.

Puma Man is like a little kid. When he loses in a game of Monopoly,
he'd tear apart the board and then lock himself in a room. He would
stop playing Monopoly because some kid cheated. He digusts me. A
grown man shouldn't act like that.

6 months from now when some newbie asks "will there be a sequel to
Giants Ultimate?" some guy would answer "no, some guy screwed puma
man and he got so upset that he quit morrowind all together." It's
silly, almost borderline stupidity.

It's also an ego trip for him. Now he got fanboys on his website
cheering for him, begging him to come back, trying to build up his
ego.

I'm all about playing the devil's advocate, so take two grains of salt
and call me in the morning.

As long as it's his boat or clubs that he breaks, more power to him.
He has to live with his decisions, and I wouldn't cut him any slack if
he cried about it later .

To more precise, he wasn't playing on a $12.99 Monopoly board that
he'd purchased at Wal-mart. This was a board that he'd hand crafted
using many aspects of the original. He wasn't given permission by the
trademark owners but he wasn't selling it. (The owners weren't paying
royalties to the inventors of dice so who knows how this should be
played out)

If Puma man is upset because someone copied him (as you claim) then
there is a sense of irony in his beef. He still has the right to toss in the towel.

How many people have created mods that are anything close to Giants?
People might edit an NPC or fill a chest with some weapons, but rarely
do they roll up their sleeves and try to make something worthy of a
download.

You thank him by mocking when he moves on to something new?

I've had people beg for my return (twice, and no I'm not joking) when
I've grown tired of whatever I was into. The whole point of a hobby is
to piss away free time in a way that you enjoy, if the thrill is gone,
you should be too.

10,000 chimps might not be able to hammer out the works of Shakespear,
but they sure can turn a discussion forum into drivel in a hurry.

I'm not here to train the unwashed and neither is Puma Man. :-)

I hope he's moved on to something new, focused on whatever that is and
not paying attention to things posted in his old haunting grounds.
That's the best way I know of to handle those that look for and feed
off of reaction.
