For a 19" Samsung, that *is* a good price! But I haven't cleared enough
clutter off my desk yet so as to have some where to put it ...but this
could easily qualify as motivation!

You can get 15" LCD monitors really cheap and it would be about a 2"
screen size step up. (Since a 14" monitor's picture is really about 13")

Besides, it would probably be a good idea to stop exposing your mum to a
fairly powerful stream of highly excited electrons (and an
electromagnetic field about twice as powerful as a cell phone held to
your head, IIRC)!

Twins! I got twins! I'll get into setting up all this dual display
stuff later today. A challenge? Do ya think you could USE two of these
babies??? My 20" GE TV died last year, a 19" LCD actually has a bigger
picture than that TV! And, it's flatter, sharper, etc. etc.
Well, let us know when ya get some desk cleared off!

Ah...while I appreciate everything you said here, she only has about 3 foot
of desk space, so the smaller the better (800x600 max!), and dammit!! If
*anyones* getting an LCD screen its gonna be me!!

Heh....Irony of ironies....I visited mom today to add some more memory to
her rig and give her.....my old mobile phone :-)

Hey, Mike - I'm shopping for 19" a TFT right now. Was looking at the
Viewsonic VX924 for 'about' the same price. The 930B has a superior
contrast ratio, but slightly higher response time. How do these 2 stack
up against each other as gaming monitors in your opinion?

I actually went to look at these today, and frankly - they both looked
terrible. In fact, every TFT there (Fry's) had a crappy image due to
the poor quality shared signal being fed to them, I'm sure.
Unbelievably stupid of them for a sales display, I thought.

Anyway, I picked up a ATI Radeon X800XL while I was there to replace my
old 9600 Pro, so I didn't come home empty-handed...

You wear glasses also, right? The TFT LCD Flatpanel monitors are MUCH
easier on your eyes than CRT's!

LOL! Ya know, I really should not go to the store with money in my pocket
I had some chores to do yesterday after work. Took care of those and
stopped at EBGames and bought my Quake 4 and also F.E.A.R. because 'the
guys' been tellin me it will give my X2 a good workout. I've been waiting
for several movies to come out on DvD too, so went to Circuit City to pick
up Batman Begins (great movie!). And i also got The Matrix: Reloaded
widescreen (have full screen, bleah!). And saw that Doom3: Ressurection of
Evil was like $15, so got that. At the checkout the nice little lady talked
me into an 'instant credit card app' for CircCity. On the way out the door
I had to stop up front to let em copy my drivers license. A lady at the
counter there I've seen in there for years now was making small talk waiting
for the app results. I asked her why they sell me a great monitor like my
930B and then take em off the shelf, what if I wanted another one, a twin as
it were? She typed something, made a funny face, then 'I have four in the
back, how many did you want? OH! Your app is approved, you now have a cc
credit card, wanna charge it to that? Instant $20 discount"
And that's how I ended up with a Twin to my 930B :-) When the bill comes
in i'll just pay it off but yesterday was fun heh, I'm sure glad it's
the weekend now!
