Default BoP

I've figured out that BoP means binds on pickup but I don't understand what
the significance of that designation is. Would someone please explain it?
Thanks.

If it is BoP, the item can only be used by the one who loots (or buys)
the item. It can't be traded or auctioned off.

Ugh, hate that. Reminds me of the great SFK run I had yesterday where three
of the people were either new to the game (which they shouldn't be, on a
"Full" server) or complete idiots. Group was lvl 41 mage, lvl 21 mage
(these two were friends), lvl 25 rogue, lvl 23 warrior and lvl 26 priest
(me). A good start was me asking for water and the lvl 41 mage saying his
was too high and telling the other mage to make me some - my mage is only
lvl 40 but I know I can look in my spellbook for a suitable one, such as
the lvl 25 water which would've reduced my downtime a lot. Lvl 21 mage kept
complaining about taking aggro - he was using Pyroblast. Sigh. And rogue
was bottom of the damage meters except me, which quite amazed me. Warrior
was thankfully an incredibly good tank so we still got through fine but
argh.

Anyway, the looting... first chest we get, 21 mage opens and loots without
rolling. Rest of us point out we should roll, he apologises, ok, fair
enough, he was a noob and won't do it again. 2nd chest we get is locked,
rogue opens it... and loots without rolling. Argh.

First boss, drops axe, 21 mage rolls "need". Rest of us find it hard to
believe, thankfully the warrior outrolls him anyway, everyone tells the
mage not to roll need on things he doesn't need. Ok. Two cloaks with agi
drop, mage rolls "need" on both. Couldn't even be bothered arguing over
those, as at least they were cloth. Rogue at least reserves his "need"
rolls to leather, but for some reason "needs" everything with int on.
Bizarre.

Finally reach Arugal, we had a prearranged deal where if the belt dropped
the mage would get it (I had it) and if the robes dropped I would. Belt
drops, mage is happy and rolls need... and is outrolled by the rogue. Wtf??
So I now have three people on my "never group with again" list (the 41 mage
didn't ninja anything but was very rude and obnoxious). Sigh. I've been
told Horde on Draenor have better pickup groups than Alliance, but that
didn't feel like it ;-)

(snip sad tale of woe)

Just.. don't even bother persisting with idiots like that. I counted at
least 10 acts of idiocy in that tale, after 2 or 3 you should have been
out of there!!

You're playing a priest - you have power - gotta throw it around a bit!! :-)

Cheers!

Just cos a server is full doesn't mean there can't be new ppl on it. Oh no
you made a mistake, your not aloud to ask mages for water and opening a
spell book is too much trouble, it doesn't matter that at lvl 41 you can
make 20 water at a time and it would take 6 seconds to give you enough water
for the rest of the day.

In every guild I've been in: if the lock was in our guild, we would
have booted him out of the raid. If he was, we would have brought that
to the attention of an officer later.

Hehe! I should've done but I can't really be bothered getting into
arguments; I'm a pretty shy person, so generally keep quiet and get on with
my job. Had the tank been as bad as the others I'd have left them, but
because he was great at holding aggro (really impressed me tbh) and my
healing seems good enough to keep them alive, we got through the instance
fine; it was just the side issues that were bloody annoying. Just glad it
was the belt not the robe; I'd have been furious if it'd been me that lost
out, but as it was that mage had "needed" a load of things anyway so it was
rough justice in a way ;-)

From what you said, I'm not clear on whether the 'lock was a guildie or not,
but if he/she was, it would have gotten them /gkick'ed. If not, I would have
asked the raid leader to kick them. And if the raid leader wouldn't kick
'em, I'd leave the group... apologizing to everyone else for doing so.

Also, what would possess someone to want another pair of identical boots?
Even by d/e'ing them the most they would make is (on our server) 5g for the
shard...

What I've done a couple of times when things were obviously a disaster
but I wasn't in the mood for an argument about it is simply say "this
isn't working, goodbye", hearth, and leave group. Nobody has ever
hassled me about it - I think on the occasions when I've done that, it
was perfectly obvious to all concerned that things weren't working. :-)

Cheers!
