Warcraft II crash

I'm almost finishied mssion VII. The Fall Of Stromgarde. The only
thing I have left to do is destroy the last remaining farm. It the the
northernmost farm on the map. However, every time I move one of my men
anywhere near it, the game simply crashes back out to
Windows. If I attack it from a distance, it's fine right up until the
farm is destroyed. Then, same thing, another crash. I'm running
Windows XP. Someone help please!!!!

Is this the Battle Net edition or the old DOS version running in emulation
mode?

It is the old DOS version. How do I not run it in XP?

DOS boot disk?

Older computer?

Win 98 Dual Boot?

Any of these are feasible

create system startup disk either on floopy or cd and when dos starts simply
run the w2 exe....
