It should not hurt the pipes to block as many heads as you want.

Tape will not hold. You can either cut out and replace the damaged
section, or use a special repair coupling that has a compression fitting on
both ends. If it was metal pipe, there are wrap-around repair couplings;
but with plastic pipe you're better off cutting out a very short damaged
section and taking it to a good hardware store and asking them for the
right repair fittings and glue to fix it. It might not be PVC...

Just keep it watered and do not add fertilizer.
