Hello.
I am running RH8; having used and got used to Windows, I am now running
Linux on my laptop machine, one feature of Windows I miss is the security
menu that appears, when you push CTRL ALT and DEL. Does anybody know of a
way to “customise” the reaction to this key combination, under X11; for
example, a menu on-screen consisting of the “Lock Screen” and “Log Out”
that appear in the “start” menu, and “System Monitor”.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can run anything you want from ctrl-alt-del.
/etc/inittab
Edit the line saying what to do.
Note that X typically traps alt-ctrl-del so it does not work from X.

Most Desktops under unix allow to customize every keybinding including
this one. If you tell me what you are using perhaps I can help you more.
Be carefull with customizing the inittab, at least read the manpage.

It was X I was thinking of doing this under, so perhaps it’s not possible.
Thank you anyway for your help!
