Hi,

I'm in the process of trying to convert a leased rack space from RedHat to
Debian. I'm working my way through:
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/ch-preparing.en.html
http://trilldev.sourceforge.net/files/remotedeb.html

I'd like to use the RPM that is referred to in both of the do***ents I'm
reading. It says it's supposed to be here, but I get 403 forbidden. Any
ideas?
http://people.debian.org/~blade/install/debootstrap

thanks,
emma

Thus spake Emma Jane Hogbin:

I don't believe people.debian.org is back yet (following the
compromise). You might try searching for the filename, and seeing if
google is nice enough to turn up someone else's local copy of it.

make it yourself, I think it's merely "alien --to-rpm" on the deb-file.
for your convenience I've put such an alienised rpm on the web:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~cfelling/debootstrap-0.2.18-2.i386.rpm

be aware, it's the one from sarge, and I've never ever used rpm-nised
debs, so it might not work at all.

The / an alternative is to start with the base2_2.tar.gz filesystem
image from Potato. This is available at

http://archive.debian.org/dists/potato/main/disks-i386/current/base2_2.tgz

First step on install: update your /etc/apt/sources.list and update to
Woody, then proceed.

people.d.o is up, but Eduard needs to audit his web pages and move them
back into place. (Every developer with web pages on Debian machines
needs to do this.)

Default debootstrap

Hello and Happy Holidays,

I'm new to this list and debian in general. I'm hoping to install debian
over gentoo remotely per...

http://trilldev.sourceforge.net/files/remotedeb.html

The link to debootstrap is broken...

http://people.debian.org/~blade/install/debootstrap/

Does anyone know of another location from where I could download this
utility? Also, is there a particular version that I should use?

Thanks!

Ian
