I have everything Debian related working and would like to thank you
guys for all your help. It was a real pleasure, reminded me off my old days with my Commodore 64 and later Amiga time. Linux is a fun chaos like the Commodores always have been. I should have discovered this years ago when I left the Amiga behind and changed to MSFT. I hate MSFT and have now found a good alternative, thanx again. In return if there is someplace I can vote or write a revue for Debian let me know. This is now getting out of the Debian scope. If you guys think I should go somewhere else with these questions then let me know. I know what my given IP address is. Given by my cable company. IP 68.68.202.34 Also I have opened up port 80 on my Siemens routers firewall. Private IP: 192.168.254.225 Private Port: 80 Type: TCP Public Port: 80 But when I enter the 68.68.202.34 ip in a browser it does not work. What is missing? Why am I asking? I am trying to do Dynamic DNS updates for my domain, but I can't get it to work. -- Gruessle http://VMCLinks.com http://GuyScope.com -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-request@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". That looks ok. Is the webserver actually listening on 192.168.254.225?

I have found it easier to just tell the webserver to listen on the port
I want, that way I don't have to worry about my IP changing (as far as the webserver is concerned). Since I have a full url, I use dyndns.org to take care of dns for me. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-request@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? * Gruessle (debian@orces.com) [031219 13:03]:
That's good. (I suspect that Rus meant .225, not .254, in his previous message.) Anyway, for one of these "cable/DSL routers" doing NAT (not proxying) you won't be able to see the NAT effects from the LAN. Have you tried accessing it externally? http://68.68.202.34/ doesn't work for me. Of course, neither does a ping to that address, or a tracepath. Are you sure that's your address? Unless I'm wrong (and I've been wrong before -- 1974 I believe it was .
.. . ), the 68.68.202.34 address is the address of your modem side of your router, not of your LAN side. The modem side won't have a web server. Instead, you need to point your browser to the address of the LAN-side of your router, which is usually semi-firm-coded in, and the initial value should be documented in your router paperwork. But not being a networking guru, I could be totally off the mark. -- Kent -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-request@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? My IP I checked at http://checkip.dyndns.org/, so this should be right. I just checked ping and tracert does acualy work for me. But what counts is that it does not work from your computer This http://68.68.202.34/ does not work for here either.
