I'm trying to get CircleMUD up and running on my Gentoo server. Would
like to run a MUD on there to pass the time. I've emerged it just fine and found a way to make it run (/usr/games/bin/circle) - buuutttt... I'm assuming it's a Bad Idea (tm) to run it as root. When I run it under the user "circlemud" (which I created and put in the games group) the MUD says "there was a problem loading your objects from disk" when I login. I'm assuming it's a file permissions problem and before I go too deep, I wanted to see if anyone out there in GentooLand had gotten this running and what is the recommended practice...? Thanks... --JM -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list |
