k3b fails to start since I upgraded gcc.
I did re-emerge kdelibs but k3b fails to build with the following. The only thing I can think of is to try to see if you can get passed

If that does not work (it might, but I just had a similar difficulty
trying to re-emerge k3b because it couldn't start kio_slave), consider re-emerging arts (yes, I know that's an awful suggestion), then re-emerging k3b. I myself have just finished re-emerging just about every video and audio library on my system, plus libtool, plus lame, mplayer, xmms, you name it-- but eventually k3b did emerge, with all flags on, without error. My error was in libid3.la, though. It took a lot of drilling to fix what was broken, and the higher dependencies that were also broken, so that k3b could use everything it was intended to. Nice benefit is that my DVD burner is now actually burning at 4x (it used to burn at an average of 2.5x even when it said it was burning at 4x). Can't say that it was caused by any upgrade to GCC, though; the only "major" emerges I've done before I started having these random issues was an attempted upgrade to xorg 6.8, then a downgrade to 6.7-r2, a kernel upgrade (2.6.8.1-ck6 to 2.6.8.1-ck7) and an upgrade to the ati-drivers (3.11-r1 to 3.12). I know I should have been more thorough about troubleshooting, but no patience today. YMMV, but FWIW-- Holly -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list |

Not so much to reply to myself, but I just refreshed the tab on which I
keep the package database open in my browser--- and I see that there's an upgrade to 0.11.16, after I went to all that trouble to re-emerge 0.11.14. LOL! I love Gentoo. Really, I do. Holly -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list |

Have you re-emerged arts, kdelibs, and kdebase since you upgraded your gcc?

Did this last night, then re-emerged alot of other stuff, then did another -u
world and I sure had a mess this morning, no modules, no nvidia!! Finally found I had to emerge coldplug, reset my modules.autoload, and emerge my kernel with gcc-3.4. Now I have to see what is wrong with mysql, portmap, netmount and nfs, all fail to start at this time. BUT K3B is working!!! Mike -- Michael W.
