Default Mozilla-Thunderbird mial - How stable is it?

I just emerge Mozilla-Thunderbird ver. 0.8 as I wanted to switch from
Evolution mail client but Thunderbird wasn't even up 10min. and it
crashed on me.

How stable is it?
Aren't they pushing that software too fast out the door?

in fact it never crashed for last years. it seems to be very stable.

no, I do not think so. I have installed both mozilla-thunderbird and
mozilla-thunderbird-bin and both are working for me.

to find out what happend pls report your /etc/make.conf and possible re-compile
it with debug to find out the problem like

export FEATURES=nostrip
USE="debug" emerge thunderbird

You might want to dial back your optimizations a little, if they're
real aggressive. I replaced evolution with thunderbird at the 0.8
release both at home and at work, and haven't had any problems at all.

If you have run thunderbird previously, you might want to try letting
it recreate a profile (e.g. mv .thunderbird thunderbird.old).
