Default Postix (postfix...?)

'Eeeeeeezzzz BAAAAAAACK.... ;o) (and you're welcome for the warning.)

The dialup is solved so the server is in business. Now, w/mutt installed as
an e-mail client I need to set up it up. Did someone say that mutt.org or
some mutt web site had a how-to? I noted a text file labeled 'manual' and
got that, but if there is something else I'd like to have it.

Thanks...

Some incorrect settings in the pap-secrets seemed to be the main cause, and
the fact that I had mistakenly installed rp-pppoe, for another. Add to that
the fact that not only was the wvdial.conf not auto-generated w/the
appropriate command so I had to fudge it, but also the fact that certain
files were disappearing into thin air --kernel modules-- between compiling
the kernel & rebooting to the new kernel.

I finally took an x86 snapshot & started with that, once I got a handle on the
probable cause of the ppp0 failure.

Yep... particularly when cable isn't available in one's area (but all
surrounding streets) and the only other choice is wireless which is monitored
for extra bw usage. I'm using ISDN ...and it's working pretty well, for me.

There's a howto here:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/guide-to-mutt.xml

If you google for muttrc there are a lot of sample configs out there as well.
http://www.google.com/search?q=muttrc&sourceid=firefox&start=0&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Okay... I now have a further question. I have followed the guide-to-mutt as
far as polling for the mail & allowing procmail to do its thing. Only
problem is, fetchmail is requiring me to specify the .fetchmailrc file rather
than just reading it ...and procmail seems to be doing nothing.

Here is the latest output:
====
bash-2.05b# fetchmail -akv -m -f .fetchmailrc "/usr/bin/procmail -d %T"
Enter password for root@.fetchmailrc:

====

I am asked for a PW twice, which was also not mentioned in the guide.
Further, there was mail on the server and I got absolutely none of it ...and
there were five messages on the server which I got immediately w/Kmail. :-\

Am I doing something wrong?? What gives?

thanks!

You may safely ignore my last msg on this topic! I ran across another
resource stating to NOT run it as root, and the gentoo article has printed
the '#' for the CLI (which, of course, means ROOT)!!

I am currently retrieving 312 messages(!!) and I have no idea why there are so
many, since I have the old msgs being DELETED by Kmail (is it not working?)!

Fetchmai, procmail, nbsmtp, mutt ...all work. The only thing I cannot seem to
find is the hot-key to get me out of one mailbox & into another. Past that,
I think I've got it whipped. Time to read the manual.
