I need to set up some kind of an email system on my new Gentoo server.
The system hosts my website under mydomain.com, and I need to be able to send and receive email from user@mydomain.com. I'd like to use squirrelmail and ssmtp. Do I need anything else I might not have? I'd like to keep this as simple as possible and I'm just looking for advice from you guys. I think I can use the mailwrapper to get ssmtp sending system email from the website easily, but what do I need to do to be able to send and receive email to and from squirrelmail for one or two users? - Grant -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list |

I think postfix will be a good solution for sending/receiving. Also you'll
need imap and apache with php. Spamassassin/antivirus is course of taste. I successfully installed and configured postfix/courier-imap/squirrelmail for my lan and two domains using the guide at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/virt-mail-howto.xml some googling and tweaking. -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list |

I'm hoping to be able to get away with ssmtp instead of postfix. Is
an IMAP server absolutely required in this situation? I'm not looking for any kind of fancy functionality and I was hoping there was a simple way to get around the IMAP server. - Grant -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list |

Got it, thank you. In light of this new discovery, can anyone compare
the webmail client that comes with courier to squirrelmail? - Grant -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mailing list |
