Default vesafb-tng and DPMS

Hello everyone,
I have an initscript which runs this line:

/usr/bin/setterm -powersave powerdown -powerdown 15

I used to use the VGA text console, and after 15 minutes, the monitor
would turn off. I switched to VesaFB-TNG (because I like the higher
resolution). Now, the monitor blanks but does not shut down after 15
minutes. The monitor still shuts down fine in X (I'm not using a
framebuffer-based X). My video card is a 3DFX Voodoo 3 3000 AGP. The
relevant lines of DMESG are:

Is this a known problem with VesaFB-TNG? I have tried searching Google
for vesafb-tng dpms but I found nothing relevant.

Thanks in advance,
Chris
