Default Beta 2 again

Last night I installed Beta 2 on my old Thinkpad using Gnome
and not KDE. I updated it from cooker (and PLF) and apart
from a couple of glitches it seems OK. First thing I noticed
was the login was different from this LE2005 install. After
a while I realised it was because it had installed XDM and
not GDM. Fixed that! One or two apps burn and die (F-Spot)
and my volume control on the Panel had gone, restoring it
threw up an error message. Fixed that with 'gst-register'.
It gets pictures just fine from an SD card plugged into
the USB port BUT even though it recognises my Canon A200
plugged into USB it can't initialise it or save settings.
I'll check for more updates and play with it as time
permits :-)

You can try sending mail to the address in the headers but it
might not get read for a while, if at all.

Did you file a bug report or are you just babbling here? It does no good to
babble about it here, it might do some good if you file a bug report.

If posting off topic is OK, then why have usenet groups or topics? How do
you expect to develope "community" if you don't respect others in the
"community" enough to address and respect the topic they post??

Good, you can help me: I want to make sure I've got Beta2 myself. Can you
please check this:

what does 'cat /etc/mandriva-release' give? I get 'beta', whereas I thought
I had installed beta2:
"Mandriva Linux release 2006.0 (2006.0 beta) for i586"

What does 'grep -i ipv6 /usr/sbin/drak*' give you, if anything at all?

In 'drakconnect', can you see the screen (including the "Enable IPv6 to IPv4
tunnel") as shown on
http://people.mandriva.com/~blino/drakconnect/drakconnect-6to4.png ?

De Kameel

[sander@dell ~]$ grep -i ipv6 /usr/sbin/drak*
[sander@dell ~]$ grep -i ipv4 /usr/sbin/drak*
/usr/sbin/drakgw: #- be sure that FORWARD_IPV4 is enabled
in /etc/sysconfig/network
/usr/sbin/drakgw: log::explanations("Enabling IPV4 forwarding");
/usr/sbin/drakgw: substInFile { s/^FORWARD_IPV4.*\n//; $_ .=
"FORWARD_IPV4=true\n" if eof } $sysconf_network if !$::testing;
/usr/sbin/drakTermServ: my @net_data = ("HOSTNAME=$hostname\n",
"NETWORKING=yes\n", "FORWARD_IPV4=false\n");
[sander@dell ~]$

OK, the same.

OK, the same.

OK, the same.

In other words: I really have Beta2, and IPv6-tunneling is not there,
contrary to the announcement.

Is this Cooker more recent than Beta2?

So you need Cooker, and not Beta2, to get the promised IPv6 GUI stuff.

Thanks.

How did you install it? I nose-dived into dependency hell, see below.

Maybe you did a forced install?

No, I didn't force anything.

Using http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ I added the cooker "main" and "contrib"
lists. I always use a German site ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de because they
are very up to date.
After that I installed everything using MCC > Software Management. If you
use cooker you have to update everyting almost every day ( MCC >
Software Management > Media Manager) because of all the rapid changes.
