Shot in the dark: You may need to reboot to get dbus back in sync.

Plus, I have recently read that Mandriva's dbus depends on
network.auth or some such that depends on the network being up
when the boot loader loads dbus (or tries to). This may mean
you will need to disable speedboot, and _might_ need to check
the sequence in which dbus is loaded during boot.

The above was news to me, and the explanation was not real
enlightening to me, so I could be way off. But if Iunderstand
it properly, it might explain problems with dbus that have
now and then been a problem with some kernels for months.
