Has anyone else noticed evidence that kernel 2.6.17-13mdv,
released around April 7, is considerably less stable than the previous update kernel? I had 41 days of uptime on my main system with 2.6.17-11mdv before updating to 2.6.17-13mdv, but I have had two cases when the kernel locked up so hard it woudn't answer pings or any other stimuli. In one case, it reported a dma timer expiry, and in the other it reported an oops into /var/log/messages. Both cases appeared to be associated with USB replugging to awaken the USB device or system. Coincidentally, my rate of Firefox crashing has been much higher since the X update at about the same time. (This is the X update that caused a different browser to segment fault.) I reported the kernel oops as http://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=30375 in case anyone else wants to chime in on it. Thanks. -- Robert Riches spamtrap42@verizon.net (Yes, that is one of my email addresses.) |

Yes. Also support for more I2C devices in later kernels. I'm not using
anything older than 2.6.19.1 -- Linux Help: http://rsgibson.com/linux.htm Email - rsgibson@verizon.borg Replace borg with net |
