Default Konqueror Filemanager (KDE 3.5.4)

Hello all,
I have a small problem with Konqueror in KDE 3.5.4 on Mandriva 2007.
I use Konqueror as my file manager, but it refuses refresh the file lists,
ever.

I can download a file one day (using firefox), turn off computer over
night, turn it back on, use it for half a day, go and find the file I
downloaded the day before, but it wont be there until I hit F5.

If I copy a file in a console, it wont appear in konqueror until I hit
F5.

I can't find any settings anywhere to fix this.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

I am thinking clear the cache....I have used it on rare occasions through
blackbox and have not noticed the problem. I dont have cache set up on
any browser, mainly because it is an intrusion of privacy. See if that works... --

The only caching options I can find are for Web browsing, I turned it off,
but it hasn't fixed anything.

If I make a file, or rename something in a console, then open a new
konqueror window and go to the folder where I had changed stuff, I still
need to refresh the window before I see the changes.

what about your settings under Performance, mine is set at only 1
preloadand it is set for file browsing only...understand I don't use kde,
I use blackbox and fluxbox, but use Konqueror when I usually want to see
something in my home dir, and this is where I save rpms that I download
and execute them from this setting.... --
