I'm a little confused as to why you think the version (release) of
Mandriva has anything to do with the version/operability of the Pan newsreader. If the version that comes with the distro doesn't work, then install another version of Pan. How well Pan works has nothing to do with what release of Mandriva you happen to be running. -- "Ubuntu" -- an African word, meaning "Slackware is too hard for me". This was all hashed out in some detail last October. Uninstalling Pan and
installing a previous version didn't work. Trust me, myself and others tried with no success. The link to some of the thread can be found here: http://fixunix.com/mandriva/242320-i...ewsreader.html Although it was suggested it had more to do with Gnome than Mandriva 2008 the problem was the same in KDE. -- Registered Linux User #267152 |

I read through that thread, and in fact made a post in it... It has to do
with the GTK libraries/versions. As was suggested (by me and others) in that thread, the problem seems to be directly related to running the (crappy) beta versions of Pan that are currently shipping with all distros. If you were to go back to the last good (stable) version of Pan, which was 0.14.2.91, you likely would not have the problem. It has the added bonus of having many more features than the broken beta versions, as well. -- "Ubuntu" -- an African word, meaning "Slackware is too hard for me".
