Default modem

I know this may sound like I'm a real dumb-ass, but I have a very good
reason for not knowing it has to do with old health problems....

But I am having a problem with one of my modems, I am trying to get it
to dial viva a pulse signal instead of a tone signal, but for the life
of me I cann't even find the manual pages included in Mandriva-Linux
LE 2005....

You're probaly saying "what the hell am I trying to use Linux for?"
Well it's like this, I used Mandrake several years ago before the
doctors put me on all the meds. and used me for a gunie pig <sp> and
you would not beleive at the info I have forgotten....

I use to have lots of "nice" material for linux but sadly to say it
went bye-bye, thanks to two ****age kids screwing with my system
instead of theirs....

Any and all help will be most greatly appreicated....

The standard hayes command for pulse dialing is ATDPn where n is the
phone number. ATDTn uses tone dialing.

That's from memory, as I have not had a modem for several years, but I'm
pretty sure it is correct. I'd check a modem manual rather than an OS
manual for further information.

If your using KPPP then configure, modem, modem commands
Change ATDT to ATDP
And if your not using KPPP, I would switch to i,t as its a lot easier.

You probably want to use an ATDP in place of an ATDT dialing
command. However, watch out. The modem is likely to pulse an
undersized line connection reed relay, and phone lines are
inductive. The contacts can arc and fuse, making the modem
useless. Some years ago I lost several, Hayes, USR, and other
makes by this. Tone dialing is much easier on the hardware.
