I used this web page feedback form to thank google.com for being linux
friendly (I use Mandriva Linux). I am posting a copy of my message to
google here, and the feedback page, in case anybody wants to thank
google and keep them supporting linux users. In fairness, I also
emailed Yahoo today too.

(to google feedback):
I switched from Yahoo! to Google.com for my home page. Here is why--
two reasons:
(1) I discovered google's personalized home page so I can not have
news, weather, etc.
(2) Very important-- google video works with linux! I am so sick of
trying to play a video in Yahoo and it never works; Yahoo has their
video content made for MS-Window users. I am a linux user. Thank you
for making your content user-friendly for linux users.

They had very popular boards, they ran a beta of a new design,
everyone on the boards that I knew gave very negative feedback,
so they went live with the new design.

Sorry to be OT since it wasn't a Linux issue, but YHOO seems to
be on the way out.

I don't have a 'home page' but I think the Google News page is
first rate. It's always in one of my Mozilla tabs.

Articles from googlegroups never downloaded except on news.software.readers where a newby's desire to learn to use a real newsreader is clearly stated on the subject line.

OT articles like this one that are not identified as such are
never downloaded.

Anyone obviously using a throwaway alias like this one gets to
have their articles left on the server, and any responses to
them.

If you are referring to me (OP) and my use of google groups rather than
a newsreader, it is because I recently switched my internet provider
from charter to clearwire; clearwire does not provide a news server so
I am forced to use google groups rather than a newsreader (I used to
use Pan). As for my alias that is a personal choice, we all have the
right to use real names or aliases.

In fairness to Yahoo, whose videos (Flashplayer 8 often needed) were
not working for me, I thought I would see if I could get the
Flashplayer 8 that Yahoo kept complaining I needed; sadly Flashplayer 8
does not exist yet for Linux, only 7. That is a major faux pas on the
part of Yahoo IMHO, making Yahoo unfriendly to the linux community.

There's no problem using groups.google, if one is getting the
quoting/replying fixed. However, I'd look for a real ISP or
subscribe to some nntp server. You are just missing all the
features real nntp software has to offer in exchange for some
stinking html interface.

Though groups.google does a good job keeping the archives and
allows to search them. It's just a bad excuse for posting to
Usenet. A good idea for people traveling or alike with no access
to "their" nntp server. But why would one want to limit himself
that much while at home?

Somebody got a gun to your head? Or do you somehow believe that if your
ISP doesn't provide a news feed (most ISP news fees **** anyway) you
can't use another news feed like many of us do?

(My filters kill posts from Google Groupers, so I won't see your
response, if any. I overrode that to back up the thread to your post
when I saw your lame excuse quoted by someone with a real news client.)

producing a Linux version.
