My old pal "James J. Dines"?

He seems to have run off and disappeared from the newsgroup.
(Not that I'm complaining...)

Anybody know why?

On Monday 12 June 2006 03:35, Dan C stood up and spoke the following
words to the masses in /alt.os.linux.mandriva...:/

That would also be the impression I have. I've been wondering where he
is these days as well.

Apart from my initial confrontation with the man which got sorted out,
I've had no problems with him - other than the fact that he tried to
get me to choose sides in a certain debate, where I didn't want to give
up on my neutral stance - and I found him to be quite a helpful
acquisition to the group, actually...

If I may speak frankly, I believe you scared him away... :-/

He was helpful, if one could get past his holier-than-thou attitude. I
guess that's where I had difficulty.

I don't think so. There's another reason. Perhaps he'll give some
insight...

His name does not ring a bell. I'm wondering if any of you remember or heard
from Uncle Theodore, better known as UT. Probably before most of your
times.

Thanks,
RV

I should probably clarify that back then it would have been called Mandrake.
Since most Mandrake newgroup readers have migrated to Mandrivia I thought I
should make this distinction.

That's a damn clever conversion!
I have absolutely no use for _my_ [CAPS LOCK], either.

to the masses in /alt.os.linux.mandriva...:/

Yes, as I've said a couple of posts ago - about a week or two, I think -
I was here already - under the nick /BeoWulf/ - when Uncle Theodore was
active on /alt.os.linux.mandrake.../ The days of Hans Updyke, Steve
Campbell, Peter T. Breuer, Silvan, Hobosong et al. ;-)

I still see some of those names from back then again on other newsgroups
every once in a while. I know Silvan switched to Debian at the time,
and PTB didn't really like the degree of handholding that was expected
by the newbies. Don't know what happened to the others... :-/

Ah, ye goode olde days... :-þ
