Default Fedora, kmail, evolution, imp problem

I installed Fedora on a computer at home, connected to the internet with
internet sharing on a PC through DirecWay.

Everything seemed to work fine until I tried accessing my e-mail at
work, which I am able to do if I have WindowsXP loaded on the
computer(same computer, I use different hard drives for different OS's).
With XP, I'm able to access e-mail with the IMP web client, Eudora,
Outlook Express, etc.

With Fedora loaded, I tried using Ximian Evolution, K-Mail and IMP. With
KMail I was able to get a list of IMAP folders, but could not display my
INBOX, it would just sit there. With evolution I couldn't even get the
folder listing. With IMP, it would take forever for the login page to
appear, and after I logged in I still couldn't get to my INBOX.

I can understand a problem with evolution or K-Mail possibly not being
configured correctly, but IMO is web based. I had no problems accessing
other web sites.

I think I need more information. Any messages from /var/log/maillog?
Does your work mail server require authentication you haven't supplied?

Normally, your Linux mail clients should work if you have those setup
correctly.

You can use fetchmail (man fetchmail, man fetchmailrc) to retrieve email
if that's acceptable.
