Answering something you didn't ask...

You *should* get Fedora instead.
The latest one in Fedora Core 3.

Fedora is the free edition of the Red Hat distro.
It comes with a lot more updated packages than RH 9.0, and is basically
used as a stable testing ground before stuff are implemented into RH.
When you pay for RH you pay for support, which you don't get with Fedora

Download from and read more on fedora.redhat.com

Was that your thoughts or is my telepathic connection on vacation now? ;-)

As already posted, RH 9 was at 'end-of-life' ten months ago, and you
would do better to grab a more recent distribution. Fedora is the
replacement for RH9, and it's already on the third release cycle.

msn.{com|net} ? I don't think so - microsoft had implemented some
proprietary protocols to intentionally prevent use of a free O/S like
Linux (or the BSDs). You _may_ be able to connect (see

http://axion.physics.ubc.ca/ppp-linux.html
http://www.theory.physics.ubc.ca/ppp-linux.html

but watch the 'username' - it has to be exactly the same as you use in
windoze. Try using both /etc/ppp/pap-secrets AND /etc/ppp/chap-secrets
and letting pppd choose the correct authentication algorithm. I'm told
that mail won't work no matter what you try, and some other services are
also b0rked badly.

But google says you are posting from

and that address belongs to Verizon Internet Services - or is msn using
verizon.net as a local point of presence?
