Default 6.06 to 6.10

I guess this is a FAQ (and in the case - is there a FAQ archive
somewhere?...

Is there an easy way to upgrade from 6.06/dapper to 6.10/edgy?

I mean: does "update-manager -c" do the job or is it a nightmare?

I should think it should work. I basically did that with a 5.10 to 6.06
upgrade - basically you replace 'dapper' with 'edgy' in the apt setup
file, then proceed as normal for updates. I did have a couple of issues
with the 5.10 to 6.06 upgrade: I had a broadcomm chipset wireless card
working with ndiswrapper before the upgrade - could not get that sucker to
work afterwards - finally got another card with Atheros chipset. And,
since the upgrade, I've not been able to have ubuntu properly write the
MBR - everytime I try it locks up after post and before the boot menu.
Fortunately, I have another distro installed and it can still handle
things. Boy, I'd really like to figure that one out.

Question: why do you want to upgrade? What is new in edgy that you really
need? Are you aware that dapper has Long Term Support? I don't plan to
upgrade for some time.
