Default KDE Settings Change Themselves

I've posted to news:comp.windows.x.kde with a question about KDE.
I haven't decided if I should mark this OT, but anyone who might
have an answer will be able to figure it out. :-)

The problem is, every time I start up (after shutting down at
night), all my KDE settings have disappeared. How would I find
out what's changing stuff, and make it stop? I can post config
files, if there's anyone that knows how to read them, and if
someone wants to tell me which ones are applicable - there are
96 different files in ~/.kde/share/config . What executables
run, I have no idea.

Thanks,
Rich

Did this problem occur after an upgrade? I had the same problem once and
the only thing that helped was to get read of ~/.kde and then start from
scratch.

Ok, blinders *off*. Perhaps the problem is that KDE is not changing stuff.
Perhaps a setting known as "Restore previous session" needs changing.
No, no. Certainly you can find it yourself.

Thank you. I know I'd seen something like that in KDE's menuland,
but it was checked. I unchecked it, rebooted, and it came back
with the settings I left it (i.e. it's now working the way I
wanted). To me, this is kind of back-asswards, if what's going
on is what I think it is. I'm more than likely wrong, but really -
If I check R.p.s., does it really put me back to the way it was
before I set it the way I want it? I'd think I'd want to restore
the settings I had when I last exited, rather than when I last
started up.

Anyway, if it changes back again I'll certainly let you know!

Thanks!
Rich
