what help file txt howto can i use to learn how to use multiple ips on a
network.

If what you want to do is: setup a single NIC with multiple IP-addys:
file:/usr/share/doc/Linux-HOWTOs/IP-Alias

Otherwise (ie: more then one NIC on the same segment):
