Default apt-get missing

when I boot up I get a repair console saying apt-get is missing and I should
run

sudo apt-get install apt-get

but thats like asking a snake to eat itself.

How can I get apt-get to reinstall ?

Thanks

Maybe like this: find the apt-get .deb on your CD/DVD (or on a FTP
server), and then 'sudo dpkg -i /path/to/apt-get.deb'

On 2007-05-28, PWCA <pwca@deadspam.com> rambled on thusly:

You're in a repair shell, it has very limited access available. If you exit
out of that shell (type "exit" and hit enter, or press CTRL+D), you should
be able to log in normally, and then you'll be able to run apt-get.
