Default K3B quirk ?

Is it a no-no to invoke k3b from the command line?

The window opened, everything worked, and I created a bootable CD
from an ISO. But after I closed it, the Konsole had several screens
of X11 error messages.

"If it works, look the other way."

I've noticed lately that the paranoid fear of computers becoming
intelligent and taking over the world has almost entirely disappeared
from the common culture. Near as I can tell, this coincides with
the release of MS-DOS.

Typically the stderr is redirected to ~/.xsession-errors

Well, it obviously wasn't here. But I'm far more curious why
there were so much "can't connect to this" Can't initialize that"
type of stuff. And although I don't recall exactly what, it was
definitely X11 (i.e., it was not troulbe with the CD burner or some such)

Yet I saw no problems with any of the windows, and I got my CD.

Wes Groleau enlightened us with:

"If it works, look the other way." Sounds like good advice to me

I negleced to add ....when run from clicking the icon. When done from a
terminal, the output is sredirected to the console, which is what you
saw. Not at all uncommon.

There were no problems. You can likely adress the issues by being more
diligent about reading and inderstanding the errors, but you are better
off spending time on other things.

Here, here. It's an old complaint, yet the KDE project still has all
this background noise of errors which don't appear to affect anything.
Seems to me I was seeing that stuff as far back as KDE 1.1. GNOME does
less of it, but I still see it on some distros, and I've had occasion to
test a dozen or so, along with the BSDs.

On 2007-03-27, Wes Groleau <groleau+news@freeshell.org> rambled on thusly:

Only if it's going to freak you out when you see a bunch of errors...

I wouldn't worry about it at all. 'specially if k3b ran without any
problems. An error does not necessarily indicate a problem.
