Need to Install Ubuntu onn PC as Dual Boot then add it a P2P Network Using DHCP

Hi, what is the recommended method to install Ubuntu on a PC w/ one
partition with XP loaded.
I want to make it dual boot then add it to a P2P network using DHCP w/ DSL
router furnishing IP adresses.
As a XP MAchine it is already part of the P2P network.
