Default networked printer just sits there

Hi y'all,

It's an HP printer with a fixed IP address. I know it's not the printer,
and it shouldn't be the driver (as I use the same model in Windoze). I can
ping it. Printer interface (gui) says its ready, and it acts like it's
going to print, but it just sits there like it's waiting for something. I'm
using ipp://ip_address_not_shown_here:9100/ipp for addressing it. Any
suggestions besides rtm?

Thanks.

Robert

Rtm might work. :-)

Try "socket://ip_address_not_shown_here:9100" instead.

IPP and JetDirect sockets are different things although many
modern JetDirect controllers also support IPP. When you use port
9100, you are using pure unadulterated JetDirect and not IPP - at
least as I understand it.

See: http://www.cups.org/articles.php?L193+I0+TFAQ+P1+Q for what
IPP offers over LPD / JetDirect.

Thanks for the reply. Tried that and it does even less. So, I guess it's
rtm. =)
