Default 2 ota's different reception

I'm useing the old good combo vhf-uhf that came with the house on my roof. The
previous owner for whatever reason added a plain uhf antenna. They are both
pointing in the same direction ,sort of northwest of the empire state building.
For whatever reason, when I removed the cable from the sole uhf, I lose my PBS
Chnl 13, which by the way, gave me excellent reception until about 4 months or
so ago, now it stinks. sometime cbs and nbc superimpose on it. I have directv.
Apparently, I must be getting CBS,NBC,ABC,Fox,WB from the larger combo job. My
puzzlement is why won't i get PBS from that one? When I connect that cable back
to the sole uhf, PBS is there, still bad reception. I did a search on the chnl
of directv, and noticed that 80 (CBS) 56 (CBS) sometimes they are showing
different shows and sometimes the Network show that is on for that day..where
are those 80,56 transmitting from?
