Hello,

I just picked up a gorgeous Winegard Pinnacle 10-foot dish. Used,
naturally,
but you can hardly tell, except for a light coating of dust. I plan
to use it
to replace my 10-foot KTI dish, which has seen better days.

The dish is beautiful and beefy, but the mount is - well - just a
bit
cheesy. The mount on my old KTI looks a lot beefier. Wonder how hard
it
would be to use my old mount with the new dish? I could even weld
something
up, if that's necessary. Only thing is, it might be hard to duplicate
the exact distance from the dish surface to the center of rotation of
the mount.
But I suspect that this is not important or critical.

Jerry,

A lot of the Pinnacles had a 4 inch OD mount. Make sure that your pipe is
4 in OD before you mount it or make sure the pinnacle is 3.5 inch.

I wonder what you think is cheesy about the mounts, all the pinnacles I put
in had very substantial mounts and many of them are still in service 14+
years later.

I actually have some mounts that fit pinnacles around if you need one -- I
even have one that has a horizon to horizon drive that is in pretty good
condition.

*** Sure enough. The Pinnacle mount is definitely larger in I.D. than the
OD of my pipe. Can the difference be made up by sliding a 4" schedule 40
pipe over the exiting 3.5" pipe?

*** The mount is large and square. The square tubing seems to be not very
thick. It has dimpled in where the mounting bolts went through. Also, the
terminating plate of the actuator arm is a bit bent. The part of the mount
that slides over the vertical pipe has tapped holes for the setscrews,
whereas my KTI mount has nuts welded onto the outside of the tube. It looks
like the original four setscrew holes are stripped, and somebody drilled and
tapped two more holes offset 90 degrees from the original ones. I may want
to weld nuts over the stripped holes.
