I do and it's great. Picture quality as good and at times better than DirecTV
or Dish. Programming such as Starz HD E&W and The Movie Channel HD on VOOM
which the big boys don't have. Free programming until March and money back
guarantee unitl the end of March. HD doesn't get any better than this. This is
a true HD service, the other guys just "talk" HD.

Default ANYONE HAVE VOOM???

Just a few questions for a guy looking to get more HD channels and maybe
save a few bucks:

1: Does Voom still require 700 bucks worth of equipment? If so, will this
always be the case?

2: Are there and PVRs for Voom? Are they HD or no?

3: How many HD channels are there? Are SD channels 480p? I assume they are
digital, do they look better than digital cable?

PQ is among the best I have seen. The HD channels look great. The
programming just keep coming and coming. We are already up to almost
30 HD channels and they will have 39 by February. They give you the
programming free until 2/29/04 and the equipment can be given back for
a full money back refund until 3/31/04. Need I say more. It is a
must have for any HD owner. Simply the best HD service out there.
All free now, and a money back guarantee on equipment. What more
could you want ?

Default ANYONE HAVE VOOM??? (receiver)

O.K. I'll answer as best I can:
1. Yes, VOOM still required the purchase of the $750 receiver. This covers the
receiver, an OTA antenna, installation and a 2 year guarantee on everything.
However, they just dropped the price on 2nd receivers from $499 to $199. I'm
not sure what will happen in the future, but the price for the above is pretty
consistent with the other services for what you get in the world of HD.

2. An HD PVR is coming. It will have 2 HD sat tuners and 2 HD OTA tuners. This
will enable us to record from 2 programs while watching another. Sounds pretty
good.

3. There are currently 26 HD channels I believe, with a total of 39 due by
February. It's difficult to answer your question as to how the SD channels
compare to digital cable since digital cable PQ varies all over the place.
Without seeing your setup I can't answer that. What I CAN say is that the SD
picture is better than it is on DirecTV or Dish.

I know these guys, and they aren't affiliated with Voom in any way but
as customers.

I really don't see what is so hard to understand about why Voom is a good
deal *if* you care about HD.

Default ANYONE HAVE VOOM??? (speakers)

Well, IF I had 750 bucks to throw around I might do that, but I'd rather
spend that on speakers Thats a good chunk of change for hardware, but I
guess maybe I am just spoiled by my 5 dollar a month reciever from TW.

Actually if you look at it it's very competitive with HD offering from other
satellite services. The price includes the HD receiver, an OTA antenna,
installation for both and a 2 year guarantee on everything.
