Default DVD burn failure, Will mail free pack of blank DVD's to person who helps resolve, please help

System
Windows XP home SP2 including all Windows updates
1200 mhz Athlon processor
768MB memory
Sony DVD+-RW DRX-500ULX external USB.

Software I am using.
I am using Nero 6.3 to burn ISO images as well as Video TS to DVD.
I have also tried burnig with DVD Decryptor.

Problem
I keep getting failures when burning DVD's. I have been successfully
burning for a month or so without a problem and then I started getting
failures.

What I have tried
I have applied the firmware upgrades provided by Sony to 2.1a
successfully.
I have also purhcased and ran a DVD lens cleaner.
I have dowloaded and run Sony's Drive Check v2.01, the results were
successfull.

I have run all types of drive checker utilities including Nero Info
tool and have been successful.
I have used DVD-R and DVD-RW of different brands.

Here is the log file

You could try the Adaptec ASPI layer.
http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware...20Check/Update
The 4.72.
I have the same burner working fine with firmware 2.0f. BUT-I'm also using
the Nero ASPI layer (2.0.1.68) too. So go figure.

I was wondering what the ASPI field was in Nero Infotool.
There is a Tab that says ASPI.

There is also a drop down that lets you choose System ASPI for which it
also says "ASPI not Installed" or
Nero ASPI which says " ASPI is installed and working properly. However
it des not stay on that when I shut the infotool and open it again.

I ran the exe you directed me to and it says all thoise components are
not installed. Do I need them? If so where do I get them and why did it
work before without them?

First check the obvious suspects.. Go into Device Manager
and check the channel properties for your IDE controller.
Make sure the transfer type is set to DMA not PIO.

There's a high probability your problem isn't related to ASPI
(or a lack of it).

The secondary IDE channel is set to DMA not PIO.
I have also just installed the ASPI. It was in the files I downloaded.

There's also a high probability the IDE controller isn't in PIO mode...

You gotta learn how to quote relevant text buddy. Ok, so in the last month
have you been using different discs? Not all brands burn as consistently as
others.
